8/1/2018 0 Comments Why do we love Disney so much?
As you may have realized by now, we LOVE Disney. We visit the Disney parks any chance we get, so much so that when I tell someone I'm going on vacation they don't even ask where, they assume it's a Disney trip, and 9 times out of 10, they are right!! The question we get the most from people is, "why do you love Disney so much?" It's a great question and I would love to share with you our top five reasons!
1. It's been a part of our lives from childhood!
My earliest childhood memories contain Disney magic! I'm sure you can all recall that favorite Disney movie you had as a kid, the one you watched over and over again and you could sing every line to every song by memory! Disney just makes you happy! I remember stages of my life that revolved around my favorite Disney characters; dancing with my first Mickey and Minnie at my 2nd birthday, climbing trees and pretending to be Robin Hood in preschool, having a 101 Dalmatians birthday party in 1st grade, and gazing in to my magical mirror asking it to "show me the beast" as a little girl! My parents paid for the Disney Channel when it was a separate subscription with a special cable box to receive the channel and I remember watching holiday specials, late night vault Disney classics and singing along to the theme songs for DuckTales, Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers and TaleSpin. My childhood dream was to visit Walt Disney World and that dream finally came true when I was 11 years old! I made a giant paper chain counting down the days until we left. I remember it wrapped all the way around my canopy bed, I would fall asleep dreaming about your magical vacation and I would take a link off every morning as soon as I work up! I'm pretty sure I watched the vacation planning VHS tape every single day!
2. You are never too old for Disney and there is always something new!
When Mark and I met and I learned he was a big Disney fan we immediately knew we had to take a trip together one day! We took our first trip together in 2004, celebrated our honeymoon in Disneyland in 2008, spent 24 hours in the Disneyland parks for their 60th anniversary kick off in 2015 and announced we were expecting our little guy in Disneyland in 2016. Now we've been so many times I can't keep track! We have never once questioned whether we were too old for Disney! The Disney parks are my happy place, they were where I can escape and become carefree like a child again. Both Mark and I are innovators and entrepreneurs at heart. We love that the Walt Disney Company is founded on the principle of innovation. They are always changing, inventing and pushing the boundaries and they never settle for the status quo. We are both technology nerds and we adore the innovative ways that Disney utilizes and pushes the boundaries with new technology! We follow a lot of Disney news circuits and every day there is something new happening in the world of Disney! New attractions, new foods, new stories, and new experiences and constantly being generated. We have never visited a Disney park and not had something new on our list to experience and as soon as we get home there is something new to add to our list for next time!
3. You can never make too many magical memories!
If you don't believe me, check out our digital Disney scrapbook post on our vlog to see all the magical memories we've made over the years! Just watching it makes me excited for our next trip!
4. We dream about the food!
Fun fact, both Mark and I have A LOT of different food allergies! When we travel with Disney we know we will not only be taken care of, but we will be able to enjoy DELICIOUS meals and treats throughout the parks! Food allergies or not, Disney has some of the most amazing food on the planet! There are so many delicious treats it's hard to pick my favorite, but here are a few!
5. It's something we can all do together as a family!
When Walt Disney envisioned Disneyland his goal was to create a park where parents and children could have fun together. Getting to experience a Disney park as a family is truly magical. We took my nephew and my niece for their first visits when they turned 8-years old and I still remember the look of pure joy in their eyes. Getting to make memories with our son and his grandparents in Disney World has been extra special! Creating memories that span generations and last a lifetime is priceless! It has been so much fun watching our son grow up over the past 2-years in the Disney parks! Watching Wally explore and play and making some of happiest memories of my entire life has been truly magical! The Disney parks have been our family playground where we can all laugh, play and enjoy the sunshine together! We have loved watching our son grow and have new experiences every visit we have made and we can't wait to see what magical memories we will make together in our future!

7/12/2018 0 Comments We Started a vlog!
We finally made the leap and joined the YouTube community! Starting a family vlog is something we have talked about doing for a long, long time now and we finally got the push we needed from our friends who have a YouTube Channel. They were incredibly encouraging of us making the leap and we are so thankful for their insight and support!! Make sure to check out their channel, Ears2You. They are so much fun to watch and they are AWESOME people! Brock even produces all of the music for their videos! Fun fact, we actually became friends BECAUSE of YouTube!
Growing up my parents had a video camera and they recorded everything! My mom always jokes that if I ever have amnesia, I will have no way of knowing who my father is because he was always the man behind the camera!! We always laugh at the videos from when I was a toddler and causing mischief because my Dad never breaks the 3rd wall to intervene and stop me from doing something naughty. I used to love watching these videos growing up. They have formulated concrete memories for me of my childhood and I am so thankful for this digital archive of so many happy childhood memories! One of my hesitations with starting a YouTube channel was how our friends and family would react. I just wasn't sure what to expect! Would people think we were strange? I was surprised by all of the positive support and enthusiasm! Everyone we have shared the news with has been excited to watch and so supportive of the idea. I was having lunch with a friend the other day and she told me that she is so happy for me that I have discovered this great creative outlet in my life. She referred to our vlog as a digital scrapbook and I thought this was the PERFECT description. I am so happy that we have this great way to document all of our family adventures and someday Wally can look back on these videos and be reminded of all the happy times we have shared together as a family. He already LOVES watching himself on the TV! It's so fun to see his reactions and watch him smile and dance around as he watches. It's definitely strange to be on camera and talking to yourself in public, but the truth of the matter is hardly anyone notices, and it's becoming so common that people don't even think it's that strange. It will take us a while to become fully comfortable, especially being on screen, but we are excited for this new adventure. What I am most excited for is having the opportunity to do video editing again on a regular basis. Mark and I ran a video production company in our younger days and I forgot how much I miss producing videos!! One of the biggest challenges will be sticking to a regular schedule with posting videos, but we are committed to publishing a new video every Monday with the last week of every month having a Disney focus. We will be kicking off our Disney vlogs with a Disney Q & A session about our Disney history. I am really looking forward to putting this video together and I can't wait for more Disney videos to come.

8/26/2017 0 Comments Wally's First Birthday!I was so excited to plan Wally's first birthday party! My Mom and I started making plans early in the summer and decided that a pool party would be a perfect format! Our neighborhood pool is open until Labor Day and Wally really loved to be in the water. I put together a fun party invitation using photoshop. Of course I had to blend in some Star Wars characters to the invite, because what would a pool party be without Darth Vader in his swim suit? My Mom and I put together fun little party favor buckets from the local dollar store for the kids and I picked up some boxes of Life Savers Gummies and Swedish Fish for the adults to take home as a treat. We started the party at the pool. I had fun making ocean blue jello cups with graham cracker sand, AirHeads Sour Candy Belt beach blankets and Teddy Graham beach bears for pool side snacks along with a fruit and veggie tray. We hand crafted miniature pool noodle lightsabers for everyone to play with along with the pool toys in their goodie buckets! After lots of swimming, we toweled off and headed back to our place to continue the party! Instead of a guest book we asked everyone to fill out a bubble with well wishes for Wally. This was such a fun way to capture special thoughts from all of our friends and family! We enjoyed a BBQ dinner followed by a sand castle cake and some beach ball cake pops. Wally was NOT very happy when everyone sang to him, but his very own smash cake quickly brought the smile back to his face! After birthday cake Wally had so much fun opening up his gifts and we wound down the evening with all the friends and family who came to help celebrate Wally's special day! One very special gift that Wally received was a custom star map from the night he was born with with the latitude and longitude of the night sky above the hospital where he was born. This was such a perfect first birthday gift and now hangs in his nursery. To order your own custom star map click here.
