9/10/2016 0 Comments A Star Wars Baby ShowerI couldn't have asked for a better baby shower to celebrate with family and friends! It was so much fun helping put together the details and I may have gotten just a tiny bit carried away with the theming... but how can you not get carried away when it involves the greatest story in the galaxy? To start I asked a friend to design the shower invitations. We decided that having a gender reveal shower would be a lot of fun and using a Luke or Leia theme was the perfect inspiration for these adorable invitations! You can purchase your own through katiedidesigns. We made some BB-8 Cake Pops for the big announcement. We had a blast putting together a Star Wars inspired menu. Mark grilled up Dark Side (Steak and Red Pepper) and Light Side (Chicken and Green Pepper) Kabobs for the main course. We had Vader Tater Salad and Jaba the Hut Jello Salad for sides. Yoda Soda Punch was a perfect choice for a beverage and no bake Wookie Cookies were a hit for dessert! We had fun coming up with an assortment of activities and games for the shower including a Hyperdrive Diaper Drive raffle, Steal the Stars clothespin challenge, the Death Star circumference challenge, know your Star Wars ABCs, and a Storm Poopers dirty diaper challenge. The shower ended with the big reveal! The Cake Pops were a big hit and such a fun way to announce that little Walter was on the way! Homemade Star Wars sugar cookies made the perfect thank you gift for everyone who came to share in this special day!

9/10/2016 1 Comment Building A Star Wars NurseryA Nursery fit for a jediWhen I found out we were expecting I knew I wanted to do a Disney inspired nursery! Mark and I are both Star Wars fans and we found out we were expecting shortly after the release of Episode VII, so it seemed like the perfect theme! Finding Star Wars nursery items was harder than I thought it would be. I thought for sure someone would have an entire pinterest board with cute Star Wars nursery ideas and surely a search for Star Wars Baby on Etsy would be loaded with options. I was surprised to find out that was not the case! I had to do some serious searching to find the perfect decor! The first piece I found were these adorable posters by waiwaiartprints on Etsy. These became the central inspiration for the nursery. The next piece I fell in love with was these adorable custom wood blocks by AppleJackDesign. I couldn't resist adding a fuzzy Wampa Rug for character and the final touch was a home built Hyperspace wall. We used WallsNeedLove Removable 1 inch Wall Strips to create the hyperspace lines and I found some great star fighter ship vinyls by PoppetHollowShop on etsy. I had so much fun finding all sorts of books and Star Wars toys to fill the shelves with and my childhood friend surprised me with a homemade Ewok cross stitch! My Mom sewed some Hallmark itty bittys on a chevon mobile I found at buybuy BABY. We found our crib, changing table and toy box at Ikea. The bright lime green added a fun color pop against the dark blue and grey walls. We had a lucky find at a garage sale and managed to snag "the force is strong with this one" decal and added some of the extra star ship decals from etsy. We had so much fun putting our little guys nursery together and we can't wait to see what sort of galactic adventures it inspires!
